Relevant rules

Parties that meet the eligibility requirements for Track 1 can set their own requirements for project determination, as set out in 9/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 23.

Determination under the Track 2 process is described in 9/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 30.

The requirements for determination are contained in 9/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 33.

The Guidance on criteria for baseline setting and monitoring sets out the role of the accredited independent entity (AIE) in determination.

The AIE carried out the determination using the Joint Implementation determination report form (F-JI-DRep).  This report is made public in accordance with the Procedures on public availability of documents under the verification procedure under the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee and the Clarification regarding the public availability of documents under the verification procedure under the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee9/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 34 states that the AIE must make its determination publicly available.

The determination is appraised by the JISC and two experts.  The rules governing the appraisal process are set out in:

The project is finally determined if no review is requested by the JISC or a Party involved, as set out in 9/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 35.

If a review is requested, it is conducted in accordance with the Procedures for reviews under the verification procedure under the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee.

A fee is payable to the JISC for determination, as described in the Provisions for the charging of fees to cover administrative costs relating to the activities of the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee.
