Designated focal point
Parties participating in the Joint Implementation (JI) mechanism are required to nominate a designated focal point (DFP) for approving projects.
Parties must notify the secretariat of its DFP:
A Party involved in an Article 6 project shall inform the secretariat of:
- Its designated focal point for approving projects pursuant to Article 6, paragraph 1(a) (9/CMP.1, Annex, paragraph 20(a)).
The Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties (COP/MOP) has requested that the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) collaborate with the DFPs of each Party wherever possible:

- Encourages the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee to collaborate with:
- The designated focal points for Article 6 under the Kyoto Protocol (10/CMP.1, paragraph 5(c)).
